2020 SGL Playoffs: Round 1 Preview

Alright. It feels like yesterday a beer cart was arriving in the SGL Draftroom, and this weekend begins the playoffs. Now here's what you came here for. The 2020 SGL Playoffs are here, and I'm excited to walk through these matchups.  1. Norwich City Dragons (10-3) Proj: 126.8 vs 8. Blaster's Hound Dogs (7-6) Proj: 136.4 This is an old rivalry in the SGL. A rematch of the 2012 SGL Championship. The Dragons bested the Hounds in week 10, 127.7-92.3. The Dragons have held a commanding grip on the 1 seed all season- at one point winning 6 in a row. The Dragons are 9-6 all-time against the Hounds, and though both teams are part of the original 6, this will be only the second time they've faced each other in the playoffs. The Hounds have essentially been in the playoffs the last 2 weeks, finding themselves in must-win games and rising to the occasion. [X]- Factor: Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins. If Kyler’s shoulder is healthy and he can run successfully, the Dragons of wee

And then, there were 8. This past week saw what we see every year. A couple of teams floating around on the bubble that must win to get in. This year we had 2 spots remaining for 3 teams, and when the music stopped, the Beasts found themselves without a chair and back in the Round Risen for the second year in a row. The Snappin' Peas defiantly snapped the Beasts for the second time this season, 123.2 to 68.7.  The Beasts-one of the original 6- is back in the Round Risen for the 4th time in franchise history- '14, '15, '19, '20. How did they get there? This was a team that started the first month 3-1. They then went on to lose 4 out of 5 games. When I look back at the Beasts season, 2 games stand out. In week 2, a loss to the Snappin' Peas 108.4- 107.88 was an absolute heartbreaker. Will Fuller (PED dude) goosed, and Dak Prescott(Pea) led a massive comeback against the Falcons, posting 39.8 in the process. The other game was last week's devasting loss 155.9-1

The Jackalopes(3-9) are missing the playoffs for the second time in history- something quite remarkable. The last time was in 2015. The Jackalopes were unapologetically tardy to the draft- the fantasy gods clearly did not forget.  The Swans(4-8) are missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year. As a co-owner, I can't help but enjoy this. As the Commissioner of the SGL, I feel bad for our wayward Swan. The Swans have yet to post a winning record. They are heading towards a combined (either) 14-25 or 15-24.  The Gamblers(3-9) have posted another losing record. This is their 4th time in their 6-year existence. Last year, the Gamblers posted their best all-time record at 8-5, and he had let the league know this was the start of a new era- WRONG. Between posting another losing record and inviting 3/12ths of the SGL to his wedding, are the Gamblers on the hot seat?  Want to be a lock for the Round Risen? - Don't come to the draft or be tardy -Invite less than 4 co-owners to
