Week 11 Recap 2020
Week 11 Recap:
Sobey’s Snappin’ Peas(5-6) 132.7 vs Blaster’s Hound Dogs(5-6) 123.4
The Peas snapped their 2 game skid and the heart of the Hound Dogs into tiny pieces this weekend in a huge win to a billion pieces. There was a pod of 3 peas that dominated this Sunday with Herbert, Tyreek, and Adam Thielen combining for 87 points. The Peas, who have traditionally schemed behind the Hound Dogs back when trying to tear them down, made no machiavellian attempt going straight for the kill. The Hound Dogs are now currently sitting in 9th with a MUST-WIN this week against the Beasts(6-5). This is now 2 losses in a row for the Hound Dogs, and they are in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for the first time ever in back-to-back years and this would be the 3rd time in 4 years. Et tu, Sobey?
Grant’s Gamblers(3-8) 131.4 vs Sean’s Swans(4-7) 78.32
The Gamblers have been sneakily adding and acquiring pieces to avoid a Round Risen defeat, and it’s paying off. The Gamblers made quick work of the Swans Sunday when Keenan Allen posted his best outing this season with 34.5 points. He sent D.J. Chark to the Zards for Kenyan Drake- some much-needed RB support, and after one week, the deal looks to be helping. The Gamblers are frantically crunching numbers to see if they can make the playoffs; I’ll get to that later.
The Swans. The poor Swans. In a tumultuous year, the Swans just lost a must-win game. The Swans aren’t eliminated officially, but they are in grave danger. Many people around the league have been speculating if this was going to be the year of the rare, special ‘Black Swans’, but they’ve been blue all year. The Swans have now lost 3 in a row and in poor fashion. They’ve posted less than 85 points in the past 3 weeks.
Boister’s Beasts(6-5) 140.7 vs Norwich City Dragons[x](8-3) 115.1
In the MASSIVE upset of the week, the Taysom Hill(24.4) led Beasts toppled the #1 Dragons. The biggest controversy of the season makes this playoff picture all the more interesting. The Beasts had a team win and saw production from all players. The Taysom Hill controversy would have potentially been a bigger deal, but even if the Beasts started Gronk, they would have won by 5. This is now 3 out of 4 weeks the Beasts have won.
The Dragons still have the best record in the SGL and are a game ahead on the 1 seed, but a person in the Dragon front office confessed to a league source, “I hope we didn’t peak at the wrong time”. Something to watch.
CDMX Bulldogs[x](7-4) 137.5 vs Walter’s Wizards(5-6) 127.3
The Bulldogs pulled off a GRANDE win over a red-hot Wizards team. The Bulldogs had lost 4 out of 5, and this win clinched a playoff berth. They were led by a valiant Deshaun Watson who posted his best performance of the year at 31.6 points. He also has had some really strong numbers out of CeeDee Lamb(16.6) and Curtis Samuel(21.4)- both of which have been better than expected.
The Wizards lost Joe Burrow early in the game, and had he stayed healthy, who knows. The Wizards have scored less than 120 points once since week 4. They had won 5 out of 6. Now, they too are on the bubble.
Stulls Skulls(7-4)[x] 155.9 vs Jaycee’s Jackalopes(3-8) 56.1
The Skulls nearly tripled the Jackalopes score. This game was never close. The Skulls are 1 game back from first and are glad to be back to their winnings ways after a 2 game losing streak. This is the 5th time the Skulls have scored over 150 points- the only team in the SGL to do that. A well-balanced team who shipped off J.D McKissic for Sterling Shepherd finally gets their entire club at full strength in week 12.
What’s there to say. The defending champ Jackalopes posted the second-lowest total(Hound Dogs with 48) of the season. The Lopes have now lost 4 in a row, and they have been plagued with injuries. The Lopes aren’t eliminated, but they face a Dragons team this week they’ll want to repeat their first game- a win 146.9-128.4.
Jack’s Mint Juleps(6-5) 132 vs Fire Ants[x](7-4) 108.4
This win for the Juleps was a colossal win for the Juleps. After starting the season 1-4, the Juleps have won 4 in a row and 5 out of 6. The Juleps are putting these wins together with a well-balanced approach. The Juleps are led by rookie RBs CEH and Antonio Gibson who are putting games together now.
The Fire Ants clenched playoffs last week with a win of the Lopes. This was the first time in 3 weeks the Fire Ants hadn’t scored over 130 points. They, too, are still only 1 game back from 1st place and have the points advantage over Skulls and Bulldogs.
Stay tuned for the Week 12 Preview this Thanksgiving!
