2020 SGL Week 6 Recap

We are officially at the halfway point of the season, and things are heating up. We now have 11 teams all within 2 games of each other.

Top Waiver Additions:

$31 Boston Scott- Sean’s Swans

$13 Dallas Goedert- Norwich City Dragons

$9 Bills D/ST- Sean’s Swans

Week 6 in review:

Norwich City Dragons 109.4  vs CDMX Bulldogs 104.2

The Dragons have won their 5th game in a row capping off a THRILLER against the former team with the best 5-1. On Monday Night, Amari Cooper, DeAndre Hopkins, and Zane Gonzalez led a ferocious comeback to give the Bulldogs their first loss. The Bulldogs finally had Deshaun Watson play well with 32 points, but ultimately had a letdown- something all the SGL felt. Have the Dragons finally removed the plug and shown they CAN cum from behind??

Walter’s Wizards 163.6 vs Justin’s Jackalopes 138.9

The Wizards tea-bagged the Jackalopes Monday night with a late Kenya Drake touchdown, and the Zards have now won 2 in a row after a month of losing. The Wizards were led by Justin Jefferson (39.6), Kenyan Drake (28.4), and Yunghoe Koo’s (20). I’m not sure if the rest of the league has felt it, but the Zards are really feeling themselves after posing back-to-back 127+ point performances. The Jackalopes haven’t started this poorly since 2016 (1-5), but they did still go on to make the playoffs with a 5-7-1 record.

Jack’s Mint Juleps 149.8 vs Sobey’s Snappin’ Peas 89.2

The Mint Juleps won their second game and posted their best performance of the season over the now .500 Snappin Peas. The Juleps were thrilled to see Lamar Jackson and CEH post their highest totals at 28.2 and 20.9. The Juleps are confident in CEH’s ability and have privately remarked that Lev Bell is “washed”, and they are not concerned. In fact, the Juleps have stated this is just the beginning. The Snappin’ Peas told the league office today that Michael Thomas’s suspension was NOT approved by them, and they like the fightin’, snappin’ fire Michal can bring to their team. Michael Thomas has not played a game since his 4.7 outing week 1.

Stull’s Skulls 137.9 vs Gardner Fire Ants 109.2

The Skulls led a comeback of their own this weekend. Halfway through the noon games, Kirk Cousins-throwing 3 picks- had negative points and the rest of the Skulls had been underwhelming. Kirk ended up with 343 yards and 3 TDs to add and then all hell broke loose. King Henry himself at halftime hadn’t scored or done much but later fires off a 94-yard touchdown and a 5-yard touchdown to finish with 40.4 points. Something the Skulls would like to see more of as they weather the storm while Chubb gets healthy. The Fire Ants faced a tough bye-week with Kamara out and now face tougher questions on what to with Juju Smith-Schuster going forward. This 4-2 start is the best for the Fire Ants since 2014. This 4-2 start for the Skulls is also a franchise-best (including both stints).

Grant’s Gamblers 119.2 vs Boister’s Beavers 98.3

The Gamblers beat their rival Beavers to win their first game of the year! Their 1-5 record ties their franchise-worst starts to the season- 2016 (finished 5-8) and 2017 (finished 5-8)- in both instances they missed the playoffs. The Gambler’s resurgence was led by D’Andre Swift’s 27.3 and Brandin Cooks’s 21.8. Beasts’ lackluster performance was due to Mike Evans (2) and Jerrick McKinnon (4.8). With Zeke’s team falling apart, MGIII getting a DUI, and Ertz’s poor performances and now injured, the Beasts are concerned. The Beasts are now 3-3 heading into another rivalry game with the Swans.

Sean’s Swans 65.4 vs Blaster’s Hound Dogs 48.5

The Swans soared (?) in the worst game played in the SGL since 2011. This game was in the top 10 of the lowest scoring games in SGL history. The lowest-scoring game in SGL history? Big Booty Bitches 23 vs JG Wentworth 70- that was in 2011. Sean’s Swans secure a HUGE win in an ugly game. They were led by Aaron Jones 13.1 and Miles Sander’s 12.2 Miles Sanders went down in that Ravens game and that’s led the Swans to bring on Boston Scott for $31 in this week’s waivers. The Hound Dogs turned to drugs after the second thrown pick by Aaron Rodgers. In the Fox Game of the Week, the Hound Dogs went HEAVY on the the quadruple Pack-stack. Rodgers, Davante, Tonyan, and Crosby combined for 25.4. This was a horrific Sunday has been an incredibly long week for the Hound Dogs. The Swans advance to a much needed 2-4 while the Hound Dogs go back to .500 at 3-3.
